Steve Burton parental alienation claims are now at the center of a bitter court battle. The General Hospital star accuses his ex-wife Sheree Burton of deliberately undermining his relationship with their 11-year-old daughter, Brooklyn.
After 23 years of marriage, the couple is fighting over more than just schedules. Steve claims Sheree puts up constant obstacles to his court-ordered custody time. He calls the behavior “blatant parental alienation.”
At the heart of the tension is Steve’s new wife, Michelle. Steve claims Sheree refuses to acknowledge Michelle’s role as his wife. She also will not accept Michelle’s daughters as Brooklyn’s stepsisters.
In one text message cited in the legal filing, Sheree allegedly wrote: “I am not ok with Michelle picking Brooklyn up from school tomorrow.” Steve argues this is just one example of a pattern. He insists Michelle is a loving step-parent who only wants to be part of Brooklyn’s life.
The Sheree Burton custody dispute goes beyond school pickups. Steve claims Sheree also refused to work with him on Brooklyn visiting him in Tennessee after he moved from California.
Sheree denies all claims of alienation. Her response? She simply does not want Brooklyn away for longer than three weeks. She says she is flexible with Steve as long as his requests are genuinely good for their daughter.
This is not the first time the ex-couple has landed back in court. As previously reported, Steve dragged Sheree to court earlier this year, claiming she was not complying with the existing custody order.
Steve Burton parental alienation is a serious legal accusation. Courts do not treat it lightly. For now, Brooklyn remains caught between two parents who see the same situation very differently.
