Selena Gomez’s lawyer has forcefully hit back at a lawsuit accusing the singer and her mother, Mandy Teefey, of defrauding investors in their mental health company, Wondermind, branding the allegations “completely meritless”.

Attorney Mathew S. Rosengart stated that Gomez will “vigorously defend these false allegations” and that her legal team is filing a motion to dismiss the “baseless claims” against her. “The allegations that Selena Gomez engaged in any way whatsoever in any purported ‘fraud’ or other wrongdoing are completely meritless, both factually and legally,” Rosengart said in a statement to People.

The lawsuit, filed in Delaware federal court by investment firms Wonder mind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wonder mind SPV LLC, accuses Gomez, Teefey, and former business partner Daniella Pierson of making false representations about the startup’s infrastructure and partnerships to secure investments. The plaintiffs claim they invested nearly $1.2 million after being told Gomez would be intimately involved in marketing, the company had partnerships with firms like JPMorgan, and that an app was in development- promises that allegedly “never materialized”.

The complaint also alleges that Gomez and Teefey failed to disclose the company’s struggles, which the plaintiffs only learned about through a 2025 exposé in The Cut . Teefey has also denied the allegations, and Pierson’s representative has rejected the claims against her. The plaintiffs are seeking the return of their investments and unspecified damages.
