Ricochet’s AEW Future in Jeopardy After Vile MS Comment to Fan

Ricochet’s career in All Elite Wrestling may have just hit a concrete wall. The former AEW National Champion is facing intense backlash and potential termination after telling a fan with multiple sclerosis that he was “glad” she had the disease. The comment, made on X (formerly Twitter) following his championship loss at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view, has sparked widespread outrage and led to reports that his job is now in serious jeopardy.

The controversy began on March 15 at AEW Revolution in Los Angeles, where Ricochet lost his National Championship in a 21-man Blackjack Battle Royal won by “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry. AEW later posted a backstage video showing the frustrated former champion having a meltdown. When a fan named Sandi commented that Ricochet’s “acting hadn’t improved,” the 37-year-old wrestler clicked on her profile, saw she suffered from multiple sclerosis, and replied with a brutal personal attack: “I’m glad you got MS”.

The comment was quickly deleted, but not before screenshots spread across social media, igniting a firestorm of criticism.

The wrestling community was swift to condemn Ricochet’s words. One fan captured the sentiment perfectly, writing, “That person made a critical comment on your performance as an entertainer, and you felt like the appropriate response is to say you’re glad they got MS. Talk about an overreaction”.

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease affecting the brain and spinal cord, causing muscle weakness, vision changes, numbness, and memory issues. There is no cure . For Ricochet to weaponize a fan’s chronic illness against her over a mild critique was seen by many as crossing the line in the worst possible way.

Initially, Ricochet doubled down. In a since-deleted post, he wrote, “Its soooo hilarious that the amount of little btches who has tweeted and wished harm on me, who has wished even death, said some of the most VILE things to me AND my wife. But those same little btches can’t take it when I do it back to people”.

The following day, however, he issued a formal apology. “I took out my hatred for the IWC on Sandi, and inadvertently others who are affected by MS. She didnt deserve it and for that, I sincerely apologize. Moving forward I’ll do better”. Notably, according to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, neither AEW nor Warner Bros. Discovery made Ricochet apologize, he did so on his own, though AEW officials later told him it was the right course of action.

Despite the apology, the damage may already be done. Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer reported on the F4W forum that Ricochet’s AEW future is very much in doubt. “If he’s crossing his fingers, it’s hoping he’s still employed by the end of the week,” Alvarez wrote.

The situation has also impacted his wife, former WWE ring announcer Samantha Irvin, who deactivated her X account after receiving a barrage of threats and criticism.

Ricochet joined AEW in the summer of 2024 after a five-year WWE run that he later claimed “tarnished” his legacy. He found success quickly, becoming the inaugural AEW National Champion at Full Gear in November 2024. But this controversy threatens to undo all that progress.

As of now, AEW has not issued an official statement on Ricochet’s status. But with reports suggesting his job hangs by a thread, the wrestling world is watching closely to see whether Tony Khan will take action. For a wrestler who once said his goal was to “help make AEW the best it can be,” this is a fall from grace no one saw coming.
