James McCoy Taylor has been arrested again. The former Bachelorette contestant and country singer was taken into custody on March 20 in Brazos County, Texas, marking his latest run-in with the law. Taylor, 39, was booked on charges of assault causing bodily injury and unlawful restraint, the same charges he pleaded guilty to in April 2025. He was released the same day after posting a $10,000 surety bond.

The arrest stems from an April 2024 incident involving a 19-year-old Blinn College student. According to a probable cause statement, the woman met Taylor at a bar in College Station and later went to his home. When she attempted to leave, Taylor allegedly shoved her to the ground, got on top of her, and used his body weight to prevent her from escaping. She was able to wiggle free and flee through the front door, then called the authorities.

This is not Taylor’s first arrest, nor his second. He was first charged in the 2024 case in April of that year, then arrested again in August 2024 on the same charges. When he pleaded guilty in April 2025, a court ordered him to complete 80 hours of community service, pay a $750 fine plus $350 in court costs, attend anger management classes, and have no contact with the victim. He was also banned from the Northgate Entertainment District, where the incident occurred.

Court records now show Taylor’s latest arrest relates to outstanding fines and court costs. He has yet to pay the accumulated balance, which totals approximately $1,184.

Taylor’s legal troubles extend beyond the 2024 assault case. In 2022, he was arrested for driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying a weapon. He was convicted the following year, serving five days in jail along with fines and a suspended license.

The reality star, who competed for JoJo Fletcher’s heart on season 12 of The Bachelorette, has also faced significant public backlash. In January 2021, he encouraged followers on social media to attend the Save America rally in Washington, D.C., which led to the Capitol riot. Though he later clarified he was not present, Bachelor Nation creator Mike Fleiss publicly exiled him from the franchise.

Taylor previously denied the assault allegations, telling media outlets in 2024, “I would never hurt anybody. I’m nice to EVERY person I meet.” He dismissed the victim’s account, suggesting that if injuries existed, “they’d be all over the internet.”

Taylor was released the same day as his March 20 arrest, but the unresolved fines keep the case active. His legal troubles arrive amid a difficult week for The Bachelorette franchise, which recently pulled its upcoming season after footage emerged of would-be star Taylor Frankie Paul in a physical altercation.

As Taylor’s pattern of arrests continues to mount, the question remains whether the former reality star, now living in Colorado with his fiancée and five daughters, will finally resolve the legal obligations that keep bringing him back to a Texas jail cell.
