BBNaija alum Saskay, born Tsakute Jonah, isn’t just another face from Africa’s most-watched reality TV show. She’s an actor, influencer, and artist carving out her unique space in the entertainment industry. In a candid interview, she shares her dreams, challenges, and why she’s saying a firm no to dating anyone in the entertainment world.
After her BBNaija stint, many thought Saskay would dive headfirst into Nollywood, but she’s taking a more calculated approach. “I’m still exploring the film industry, but I’m very particular about the kind of projects I take on,” she said. Her focus is on high-quality productions with stories that resonate, not just fame. Though her full-time gig is fashion and lifestyle influencing, Saskay hinted at a movie role that could define her future in acting: “I played the lead in a beautiful film coming out soon, and I gave it my all.”
When asked about her ideal roles, Saskay revealed a surprising side: “I want to play a bad girl, something bubbly and completely different from who I am. So far, I’ve been cast in mellow roles, but I want something that challenges me and takes me out of my comfort zone.”
Outside acting, Saskay has embraced her creative side as a fashion influencer. She describes her style as “Androgynous Afrofusion,” a bold mix of masculine and feminine elements with African prints. Though it was initially intimidating, she now proudly showcases her unique aesthetic.
On life beyond the spotlight, Saskay is considering a return to school to pursue a master’s degree. “I love learning; I’m a bit of a bookworm,” she admitted, hinting at interests in media, communications, or even her first love, applied intelligence. While juggling school and her career might be challenging, Saskay believes it’s doable: “I see influencing as something I enjoy, not just work.”
When it comes to love, Saskay is refreshingly honest. She’s single and focusing on self-love but isn’t under any pressure to settle down, despite her northern Nigerian roots.
My family is supportive, but I’m waiting for God to send the right man. However, one thing is clear: I’m steering clear of men in the entertainment industry. I want a regular nine-to-five guy. It’s hard because I’m in this industry, but I know what I want.
As for sliding into her DMs? Don’t even think about it. “I wouldn’t take anyone seriously from my DMs. I’m a millennial in my head but a Gen Z at heart,” she joked.
With her talents, determination, and grounded approach to life, Saskay proves she’s more than a reality TV alum. She’s a multi-faceted star in the making, charting her path on her own terms.
