CLEVELAND Browns superstar and reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett received another speeding citation last month, marking the ninth time he has been ticketed for speeding in Ohio since entering the league in 2017. The latest incident occurred in the early morning hours of February 21 on Interstate 71.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Garrett was clocked driving 94 miles per hour in a 70-mph zone. The stop took place at approximately 1:35 a.m. in Congress Township, Ohio, and the deputy noted that the All-Pro defensive end was “kind and cooperative” during the interaction. He was driving a green 2024 Porsche at the time.

The February citation adds to an alarming pattern for the 30-year-old pass rusher. Just six months earlier, in August 2025, Garrett was cited for driving 100 mph in a 60-mph zone in Strongsville, Ohio, an incident that drew sharp criticism from then-head coach Kevin Stefanski, who called it “extremely disappointing”.

But the most serious moment came in September 2022, when Garrett flipped his Porsche in Sharon Township after losing control of the vehicle. He was traveling 65 mph in a 45-mph zone when he swerved to avoid an animal, causing the car to leave the roadway, strike a ditch, and overturn multiple times.

That crash left Garrett with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder, a strained right biceps, multiple lacerations, and a burst blood vessel in his left eye. His female passenger sustained minor head injuries. At the time, Garrett called the incident a “wake-up call.”

“This will definitely be a wake-up call for me, just try to be smart overall with driving,” Garrett said after the 2022 crash. “Don’t take anything for granted”. He expressed gratitude for escaping without life-threatening injuries.

The February 21 citation came during an eventful weekend for Garrett. Just days earlier, he had been in Livigno, Italy, cheering on his girlfriend, Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim, as she secured a silver medal at the Milan Cortina Winter Games. Hours before being pulled over, Garrett attended a college basketball game between Bowling Green and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Garrett has a scheduled court appearance in Wayne County Municipal Court on March 10, though he can avoid appearing by paying a fine exceeding $100. The financial penalty represents pocket change for a player who signed a four-year, $160 million extension with the Browns before the 2025 season.

On the field, Garrett remains dominant. He recently set the NFL’s single-season sack record with 23 sacks and earned his second Defensive Player of the Year award. But off the field, the repeated citations raise questions about whether the 2022 crash truly served as the wake-up call Garrett suggested it would be. Nine tickets in nine seasons create a narrative that refuses to disappear, shadowing one of the league’s brightest defensive stars
