Sean “Diddy” Combs, facing serious charges including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, has requested to be placed under house arrest in his Upper East Side apartment rather than remain in custody at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center. His legal team proposed a $50 million bond and outlined strict conditions, including no access to the internet or phone, monitored communication with his attorneys, and approval-required family visits.
Diddy’s lawyers argued that house arrest would be “substantially more restrictive” than his current detention and necessary for him to prepare for his trial, citing “new evidence and circumstances.” However, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian previously rejected a similar request for Diddy to reside at his Star Island property in Florida, citing security concerns.
The rapper and entrepreneur, 55, was arrested on September 16 and has since faced multiple bail rejections. The indictment accuses him of leveraging his business empire to facilitate crimes including sex trafficking, forced labor, and obstruction of justice, with claims of widespread verbal, physical, and sexual abuse of women.
Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, expressed disappointment with the prosecution, stating, “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist.”
A decision on his bail request is expected next week. Meanwhile, the allegations mark a significant turning point in the public image of the once-celebrated music mogul.
