After two decades in Hollywood, the ‘Cobra Kai’ star says goodbye to acting—and hello to peace and privacy.
Courtney Henggeler, best known as Amanda LaRusso on Netflix’s Cobra Kai, has officially left the acting world—and she’s not looking back.

In a candid March 30 Substack post, Henggeler revealed that after over 20 years in the entertainment industry, she had decided to “tap out,” telling her agents she no longer wanted to be “a cog in the wheel of the machine.”
“We survived off the crumbs,” she wrote. “Our plates were empty, but a golden goose hung over our heads. Today might be the day… 20-plus years of this… I’m hungry.”
Henggeler’s emotional post marked a turning point for the actress who, alongside Ralph Macchio, portrayed one of the core family units in Cobra Kai, which officially wrapped its sixth and final season in early 2025.
“The House That Cobra Kai Built”
Since stepping away from acting, Henggeler has moved to Connecticut, where she says she’s embraced a quieter, more private lifestyle.
“I took myself off all the socials. So, I’m like a hermit,” she said on The Official Big Bang Theory Podcast. “I bought a house in Connecticut… It’s very beautiful. It’s breathtaking—the house that Cobra Kai built.”
The actress credits her success on Cobra Kai for giving her the financial freedom to walk away on her own terms, calling the series a “godsend.”
A Bit of Nostalgia
Just two months after announcing her retirement, Henggeler reflected on one of her early career highlights: playing Missy Cooper, Sheldon’s twin sister, in The Big Bang Theory’s Season 1. On the podcast, she revisited the 2008 episode The Pork Chop Indeterminacy, calling it her first major guest role and a “special moment” in her journey.
No Regrets, No Social Media
Now fully unplugged, Henggeler says she doesn’t miss social media—or the spotlight.
“I think I’m a happier person because of it. But I also don’t know what’s going on in the world,” she joked. “You can’t follow me. But if you can find where I live in Connecticut, you can, like, look in my windows, I guess.”
While fans might miss seeing her onscreen, Courtney Henggeler is clearly content, having traded in red carpets for country calm.
All six seasons of Cobra Kai are currently streaming on Netflix.
