A Los Angeles County judge has just opened a digital door. Caitlyn Jenner scores a court win involving her late friend Sophia Hutchins, with Apple now ordered to grant access to Hutchins’ private email accounts.
The ruling came after a request from Hutchins’ mother, Amy L. Andrus, who serves as administrator of her daughter’s estate. The judge signed off immediately, clearing a major legal hurdle for those seeking to recover the 29-year-old’s digital records.
The judge authorized Andrus to seek access to data tied to multiple email addresses connected to Hutchins. Those accounts include email addresses tied to Jenner’s organization, Hutchins’ own business ventures, and personal Gmail accounts.
The court specifically directed Apple to help recover personal data, which could include communications and other information stored within the accounts. The judge noted the records may contain personally identifiable information and data involving third parties.
Hutchins died in July 2025 after an ATV crash near Caitlyn’s Malibu-area home. She was 29 years old. The accident brought an abrupt and heartbreaking end to a years-long partnership between Hutchins and Jenner.
Exactly what the estate hopes to find inside those emails remains unclear. But the court order is now active. Apple has no choice but to help unlock them. For Jenner, the legal victory is procedural. For Hutchins’ mother, it may be the only way to get answers.
