Manchester City’s unstoppable striker, Erling Haaland, is on the brink of signing a new contract that will make him the highest-paid player in Premier League history, according to The Mirror.
The deal reportedly offers the Norwegian superstar a jaw-dropping £500,000 per week, overtaking teammate Kevin De Bruyne’s £400,000 weekly wage as the league’s top earner.
City officials recently met with Haaland’s family and agent Rafaela Pimenta for what has been described as productive negotiations. If finalized, the new contract would extend Haaland’s stay at the Etihad until the end of the 2028-2029 season.
However, there’s one sticking point in the discussions: Haaland’s £150 million release clause. Manchester City is pushing to eliminate the clause in the new deal, but Haaland’s representatives are advocating for it to remain. A potential compromise could see the clause increased to £200 million, ensuring a win-win for both parties.
Haaland’s impact since joining City three seasons ago has been nothing short of legendary. The 24-year-old has racked up an astonishing 105 goals and 14 assists in 114 appearances across all competitions, cementing his place as one of the world’s most lethal strikers.
With this potential deal, City looks set to secure their star player for years to come, further solidifying their dominance in English and European football.
