Contrary to popular belief, Mayorkun has set the record straight—there’s no bad blood between him and his former label boss, Davido.
The award-winning singer, born Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, made headlines when he exited Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) in 2021 after a successful run that began in 2016. His move to Sony Music West Africa immediately sparked rumors of a possible rift between the two artists.
But in a recent interview with 3Music TV, Mayorkun revealed that Davido actually helped facilitate his new deal with Sony.
“Aside from having my label, right now I am also with Sony Africa. Shout out to Davido for that as well, he facilitated the deal,” he said.

Mayorkun’s clarification puts an end to long-standing speculation about their relationship. The “Certified Loner” crooner made it clear that despite leaving DMW, he still shares a solid bond with Davido—a move that speaks volumes about loyalty and mutual respect in an industry often marked by messy fallouts.
Now with his own label and a Sony deal in hand, Mayorkun is focused on expanding his brand and pushing boundaries beyond the Nigerian music scene.
