WWE’s Brie Bella Rushed to Hospital With Shoulder Injury at SummerSlam

Brie Bella was hospitalized after sustaining a shoulder injury during her match at WWE SummerSlam Night One on Saturday, August 1. The 42-year-old WWE Hall of Famer was competing in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match alongside sister Nikki Bella and Paige against Fatal Influence when the injury occurred. During the match, Bella was driven into the steel steps by Jacy Jayne, and she was seen holding her right shoulder for the remainder of the contest.

Following the match, the Bella Twins turned on Paige in a post-match attack, but Brie was visibly limited, delivering only a single kick before repeatedly clutching her shoulder. Her expression showed discomfort rather than the smug demeanor typically associated with a heel turn. WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque confirmed the injury during the post-show press conference, revealing that Bella received treatment at the venue before being transported to a hospital for scans.

“She’s injured. I don’t have an update yet. She was here, got some treatment here, has been taken to the hospital to get some scans done,” Triple H said. “I know she hurt her shoulder. Seems pretty bad, but I don’t have that answer yet. Hopefully we will soon, and hopefully it won’t be as bad as we thought it was, but that’s the nature of the game”. He added that WWE would “pivot accordingly” if creative plans needed to change.

The injury is especially unfortunate timing, Nikki Bella had just returned from a leg injury that sidelined her before WrestleMania, and the heel turn against Paige was clearly designed to launch a new program. Now, the Bella Twins reunion may be put on hold as Brie’s diagnosis remains uncertain. “This is a dangerous business,” Triple H said. “We hate it and we do everything we possibly can… but it’s still a physical business”.
