Wiz Khalifa is now a wanted man in Romania. The American rapper has been officially added to the Romanian Police’s wanted list after receiving a final prison sentence for drug possession. The case stems from a 2024 music festival performance where Khalifa smoked a cannabis cigarette on stage. Romanian authorities later found 18 grams of cannabis in his possession.
The Wiz Khalifa wanted in Romania status follows a legal process that stretched nearly two years. He was sentenced to nine months in prison for possession of risk drugs for personal use. In February of this year, the Constanța Court of Appeal rejected Khalifa’s annulment appeal, issuing a final ruling. The court also rejected his request to suspend the execution of the prison sentence.
The incident occurred during a festival performance in 2024. Khalifa, known globally for his open and public relationship with cannabis, lit a cigarette on stage in front of thousands of fans. Romanian authorities did not treat the moment as entertainment. They treated it as a crime. A subsequent search reportedly uncovered 18 grams of cannabis in his possession.
Romanian drug laws are significantly stricter than those in many US states where cannabis has been legalized or decriminalized. Possession of risk drugs for personal use can carry prison time, and the courts showed no flexibility toward Khalifa’s celebrity status.
Khalifa’s legal team fought the conviction. They filed an annulment appeal arguing that the sentence should be overturned or reduced. The Constanța Court of Appeal rejected that appeal completely. They also denied a separate request to suspend the prison sentence, which would have allowed Khalifa to avoid jail time as long as he stayed out of further legal trouble.
With both appeals rejected, the conviction became final. That finality triggered the arrest warrant and placement on the wanted list.
Thomaz Cameron Jibril, Khalifa’s legal name, is now actively sought by Romanian authorities. The warrant describes the case as drug-related offenses, specifically conviction for possession of risk drugs without authorization for personal consumption. If Khalifa enters Romania or any country with an extradition treaty that honors Romanian warrants, he could be detained.
