Will Smith is diving back into the music scene with his highly anticipated single, Beautiful Scars, featuring Big Sean. Set for release on January 30, the song’s visual concept pays homage to The Matrix, with Smith and Big Sean recreating iconic moments from the film.
A Matrix-Inspired Journey
In a trailer shared on January 26, Smith takes on the role of Neo, while Big Sean embodies Morpheus. The clip humorously revisits Smith’s career choices, referencing his decision to pass on The Matrix in favor of Wild Wild West. In true Smith style, the trailer concludes with a twist, as he chooses both the red and blue pills—a playful nod to his multifaceted career.
Building Excitement for New Music
Smith began teasing Beautiful Scars earlier this month, sparking speculation about a possible Matrixreboot. However, fans were thrilled to learn that the teasers were part of his return to music. This follows his 2024 singles Work of Art (featuring Jaden and Russ) and Tantrum (featuring Joyner Lucas), both expected to feature on his upcoming album, Dance In Your Darkest Days.
The Comeback Album
Smith’s forthcoming album will mark his first full-length project since 2005’s Lost and Found. While no release date has been announced, his recent collaborations and creative concepts suggest that Dance In Your Darkest Days will showcase his growth as both an artist and storyteller.
Fans can look forward to Beautiful Scars as another exciting chapter in Smith’s musical resurgence, blending introspection, creativity, and nostalgia in a way only he can.
