Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, is facing allegations of assault following an incident in Istanbul, Turkey. The footballer, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, is accused of punching journalist Tolga Bozduman outside an entertainment venue during a late-night outing.
The altercation reportedly occurred when Bozduman, along with three other journalists, was photographing Osimhen as he exited the venue. According to Bozduman, the situation escalated after the journalists took pictures of the player. He recounted, “When the flashes went off, all hell broke loose. He ran towards me, screaming. He tried to take my camera away from me, but I didn’t let him. The punch he threw hit me in the head. My right side still hurts. He then started swearing.”
Bozduman also claimed that Osimhen offered him money to delete the footage and then threatened him when he refused, stating, “I’ll destroy you.”
Neither Osimhen nor Galatasaray has provided an official statement regarding the incident. Despite the controversy, the 26-year-old striker continues to perform at a high level for Galatasaray, having scored 15 goals and provided six assists in 19 matches across all competitions this season.
The incident has raised questions about the behavior of high-profile athletes in public, and the outcome may impact Osimhen’s reputation off the pitch.
