Bayer Leverkusen’s striker, Victor Boniface, has encountered a minor setback in his rehabilitation process, postponing his anticipated return to competitive action. According to Sky Sports News reporter Marlon Irlbacher, the delay was confirmed by the club, with the specific nature of the setback not yet fully detailed. As a result, Boniface’s return date remains uncertain, and it’s now clear that he will miss Leverkusen’s upcoming crucial match against Borussia Dortmund, scheduled for next week, as well as the match against Mainz on January 14.
Despite Boniface’s absence, Leverkusen has continued to perform well in recent fixtures, showcasing the strength and depth of their squad. Coach Xabi Alonso emphasized the healthy competition among players, particularly between Boniface and fellow striker Patrik Schick. Alonso acknowledged the challenge of selecting the best lineup for each match but stressed that the team’s overall depth will ensure opportunities for all players.
