Tyler Perry is calling out Allstate after the insurance company reportedly denied the claim of a now-displaced 81-year-old woman, leaving her facing an nearly $18,000 lien on her home.

Brenda Daurham, a retired hairstylist from Markham, Illinois, has lived in her home for over 40 years and has paid homeowners insurance premiums for decades. On Valentine’s Day, a pipe burst beneath her kitchen sink, flooding her home and forcing her to move out.

According to Durham, she contacted Allstate immediately and was assured everything was covered. However, after restoration work was completed, the company denied the claim, citing exclusions for “wear and tear,” “deterioration,” and “seepage”. The restoration company then placed a mechanic’s lien of $17,827.96 on her property.

The stress of the ordeal sent Daurham to the emergency room. “I have nothing, nothing at all, so I just want somebody to help me,” she said.

After seeing a FOX 32 Chicago report about Daurham’s situation, Perry took to Instagram to call out the insurance company directly: “Hey Allstate!! Step to the front real quick. This woman is 81 years old. You call this being in good hands?”.

He followed with a message of hope: “Don’t worry Ms. Daurham, help is on the way.”

A source confirms Perry is paying the nearly $18,000 lien and is providing an additional $25,000 to help Daurham get back on her feet . FOX 32 Chicago reporter Tia Ewing expressed her gratitude: “I’m thankful for God that Tyler Perry was able to see the story… All I did was tell her story”.
