Chaske Spencer, who brought Sam Uley, the fierce Alpha of the Quileute werewolf pack, to life in The Twilight Saga, has officially ruled himself out of Netflix’s upcoming animated reboot. Fans hoping to hear Spencer’s commanding voice again will have to let that dream go. In a candid interview with TV Insider, Spencer said, “I’m too old. Even the voice… I think you can find a younger, better-in-shape actor to do that.” Still, he’s eager to see what the revival brings, adding, “I’ll watch it. I’ll check it out.”
Sam Uley may not have been part of the infamous Team Edward vs. Team Jacob rivalry, but he held a special place in the saga, especially after that memorable moment when he went after the Volturi’s Jane (Dakota Fanning) in Breaking Dawn – Part 2. While Spencer is stepping aside, there’s one star who’s still game to sink his teeth into the franchise. Peter Facinelli, who played the unshakable Dr. Carlisle Cullen, is all in if Netflix calls.
Facinelli, a true fan of the series himself, has said he’d happily return as the Cullen patriarch. If not, he’ll still be glued to the screen like the rest of us. Unlike Spencer, Facinelli was part of Twilight from the very beginning, surviving fake decapitations and high-stakes battles, thanks to Alice’s (Ashley Greene) clever premonitions.
While the animated reboot remains uncast, fans can still relive every intense, brooding moment of The Twilight Saga on Hulu. Whether or not the reboot captures the same magic, it’s clear the legacy of Twilight—and its star-powered ensemble—continues to shine.
