The ongoing legal battle between Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez has taken yet another turn. Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence, has responded to Megan’s recent restraining order request, accusing her of weaponizing the justice system to silence him.
Megan Thee Stallion, born Megan Pete, filed for a temporary restraining order on December 17, citing Lanez’s alleged continued harassment via social media and third parties. The motion points to Lanez’s supposed involvement in orchestrating online attacks through blogger Milagro Gramz, with Megan claiming these actions have caused her ongoing psychological distress.
Lanez’s legal team fired back on December 24, filing a motion with the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County. In the filing, Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, denied any direct contact with Megan and labeled her restraining order request as “frivolous.” He further argued that it was an attempt to suppress free speech and public opinion.
“When celebrities backed by millions of dollars and large corporations disagree with opinions, they weaponize the justice system,” the motion reads. “Public figures must deal with controversy and public opinions as part of the limelight they voluntarily chose.”
Megan’s legal team, however, is standing firm. Her attorney, Mari Henderson, stated, “It’s delusional that a felon convicted of a violent crime is contesting a protective order. The court will act to protect the victim.”
This legal skirmish follows the infamous 2020 incident in which Megan was shot in the feet after an altercation with Lanez. He was convicted in December 2022 of multiple charges, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Despite his conviction, Megan claims Lanez continues to torment her from prison, citing alleged evidence of his father discussing payments to bloggers on recorded prison calls.
Lanez’s camp insists that he poses no threat, pointing out that he’s confined to prison and has no access to firearms. Nonetheless, Megan’s filing describes Lanez’s behavior as “psychological warfare,” aimed at further victimizing her and tarnishing her reputation.
With the restraining order hearing set for January 9, the feud between these two high-profile artists shows no sign of easing. Fans and legal observers alike are bracing for the next chapter in this prolonged and contentious saga.
