New court documents reveal that the late Deadliest Catch star faced serious allegations from his ex months before he fell overboard. Todd Meadows’ ex claimed he had alcohol issues and requested supervised visits with their children.
Kennady Harvey filed a petition in May 2025 seeking primary custody of their two young children, then aged one year and five months. The documents, obtained by multiple outlets, also requested that the court set child support.
The Todd Meadows drinking problems allegation centered on his fitness to be alone with their kids. Harvey specifically asked that Meadows not drink alcohol or use marijuana around their children. She further requested that all his visits be supervised by a third party.
The case appeared to stall after Harvey filed the initial petition. No final custody ruling had been issued before the tragedy unfolded.
The Deadliest Catch star death occurred on February 25 of this year. Meadows, only 25 years old, fell overboard while working on the Aleutian Lady in the Bering Sea during active production of the hit Discovery series.
The official cause of death was ruled as drowning with probable hypothermia, along with submersion of body in cold water. He left behind three children total, two with Harvey and another with a different ex, Hattie Sullivan.
Meadows had appeared on the long-running crab fishing reality show, which documents the dangerous lives of Alaskan fishermen. His death sent shockwaves through the tight-knit maritime community, with castmates and fans mourning a life cut devastatingly short. The new custody filing adds a complicated layer to an already heartbreaking story.
