Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, isn’t here for the lies. The 70-year-old took to Instagram to squash rumors claiming her daughter was paid a whopping $10 million to appear at Vice President Kamala Harris’ rally in Houston last October.
The rumor, initially flagged as false by Instagram but still circulating on some platforms, alleged that the “Break My Soul” singer cashed in big for her appearance. However, Knowles wasn’t having it.
The lie is that Beyoncé was paid $10 million to speak at a rally in Houston for Vice President Kamala Harris,When in fact, Beyoncé didn’t receive a penny.
According to Knowles, the Grammy-winning icon not only showed up for free but also personally covered the costs for her and her team’s flights and glam. She added that the false narrative was damaging not just to Beyoncé but also to Harris, who lost the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump.
They are lying and disrespecting Beyoncé’s name while trying to discredit the power of our vice president!”
she wrote passionately.
When do the lies and rumors stop?
Singer John Legend, who also performed for free at a Harris rally, backed Knowles’ statement. “Let ‘em know, Ms. Tina! We all performed/appeared for free because we care about our nation’s future,” he commented.
At the rally, Beyoncé shared her reasons for supporting Harris, stating, “I’m not here as a celebrity or politician. I’m here as a mother concerned about the world our children are growing up in.”
Similar rumors swirled around Oprah Winfrey, who also denied being personally paid by the Harris campaign. Although her company received $1 million for a town hall event, Winfrey clarified, “I wasn’t paid a dime.”
Tina Knowles’ fiery response serves as a reminder to verify facts before believing the hype. Beyoncé continues to inspire as a symbol of activism, unity, and integrity—on her own dime.
