Taylor Swift and Blake Lively’s once-unbreakable friendship appears to be staying on ice. Despite recent speculation that the longtime friends were quietly rebuilding their relationship, the pop superstar has not extended a wedding invitation to the actress for her upcoming nuptials to Travis Kelce. Page Six reports that sources say there hasn’t been an olive branch when it comes to their friendship.
The rift stems from the legal battle between Lively and her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni. Swift was subpoenaed in connection with the dispute, but the subpoena was later withdrawn. Sources at the time said Swift was frustrated about being pulled into the legal fight and felt she had been unnecessarily dragged into the controversy.
The friendship dates back to 2015, when the two first connected and evolved into one of Hollywood’s most prominent celebrity relationships. Swift is the godparent to Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ children, and Lively directed Swift’s I Bet You Think About Me music video. However, it all changed when Lively reportedly referred to Swift as one of her “dragons” in a text to Baldoni, pulling Swift into the drama.
Swift reportedly hosted a pre-wedding gal-pal gathering at her Rhode Island mansion over the weekend, and Lively was notably absent, as TMZ previously reported. Fireworks lit up the sky over Watch Hill as friends gathered to celebrate the bride-to-be. Lively was not among the guests. Swift is expected to marry Kelce around the Fourth of July weekend, with rumored celebrations at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
