Sydney Sweeney may be heading into the world of espionage and glamour as the next Bond girl in the iconic 007 franchise.

The Euphoria and Immaculate star, 27, is reportedly the top pick for the leading female role in the upcoming James Bond film, with strong support from newly appointed director Denis Villeneuve and none other than Amazon boss Jeff Bezos.

According to The Sun on Sunday, a source close to the production revealed:

“Sydney is the top name on the casting sheet for Bond. Denis believes she is hugely talented, as well as having an alluring appeal to younger generations — vital in modernising the franchise.”

The source added that the director is impressed not only by Sydney’s meteoric rise in Hollywood but also by her physicality and confidence — two traits synonymous with the legacy of the Bond girl.

“She’s athletic, capable of performing physical scenes, and also carries the elegance and femininity that Bond girls are known for,” the insider said.

A Bold New Era for Bond

This marks a new chapter for the spy series, following Daniel Craig’s exit in No Time to Die (2021). With Amazon now owning creative control of the franchise — after acquiring MGM — there’s clear intent to both modernise the 007 universe and honour its legacy.

Villeneuve, known for his sweeping cinematic visions in Dune and Blade Runner 2049, was announced as the film’s director last month. In a statement, he spoke of his personal connection to the character:

“Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father. To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honour the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come.”

Sydney’s Star Power

Already one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actresses, Sydney Sweeney has shown she’s unafraid of challenging roles — a quality Villeneuve reportedly admires.

In a recent interview with W Magazine, Sweeney said:

“In general, if something scares me, then usually I’m going to do it, because that means I’m challenging myself.”

She also addressed her comfort with vulnerability on screen, especially in demanding roles that involve nudity or emotional depth:

“I don’t get nervous [about shooting nude scenes]. I think that the female body is a very powerful thing. And I’m telling my character’s story, so I owe it to them to tell it well.”

What’s Next?

No official casting announcements have been made yet, and fans are still awaiting confirmation of who will step into the tuxedo as the new James Bond. But with Villeneuve behind the camera and Sydney Sweeney at the top of the wishlist, this next Bond installment is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing reboots in franchise history.

Stay tuned — the next Bond girl might just be Immaculate.
