Suni Lee isn’t done with gymnastics yet. The 23-year-old Team USA superstar announced her return to the sport on Tuesday, dropping a hype video that has the gymnastics world buzzing. The two-time Olympic gold medalist shared the news with a simple caption: “i’m back”. In the clip, Lee declared, “I know what I’m capable of. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get there. Back in the gym … we’ll see”.
Lee became a household name after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she captured the all-around gold and a bronze on uneven bars. She was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease two years later but fought through it to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she added two more bronzes to her resume. The update comes just two years before the Olympics head to Los Angeles in 2028, making it clear that the Games are her ultimate target.
“This is more than a comeback, stay tuned,” Lee added in her announcement. With Lee back in the gym, attention now turns to Simone Biles, who has not officially said whether she will retire or continue competing for Team USA. For now, Lee’s return adds another layer of excitement to the road to LA 2028.
