Stefon Diggs’ male sexual assault accuser wants their legal battle moved far away from the NFL star’s home stadium. Christopher Griffith filed court documents requesting the lawsuit be relocated from Prince George’s County, Maryland, where the Washington Commanders play, arguing that the jury pool would be stacked with season-ticket holders, stadium employees, and fans with a rooting or financial interest in Diggs remaining a player in good standing.
Diggs signed with the Commanders in August and scored a touchdown in their Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. In his motion, Griffith said the Stefon Diggs lawsuit venue change matters because jurors will be assessing whether his claims that Diggs drugged and sexually battered him are true or fabricated. He wrote that he fears “the ordinary tendency to extend the benefit of the doubt to a hometown figure who success one has some stake in, particularly against an accusation that would damage a season the local team and its fans have invested in”.
The judge has yet to rule on the request. Diggs originally sued Griffith for defamation, claiming he fabricated allegations of sexual assault at Diggs’ Maryland home in 2023. Griffith countersued, accusing Diggs of drugging him, masturbating in front of him, and then having him beaten to keep quiet about the alleged advances. The case remains ongoing.
