Chippa United head coach Thabo September has dropped a major hint that Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali could be on his way out of the club this summer.
Despite signing a three-year contract extension just last season and being handed the captain’s armband, Nwabali’s growing reputation has continued to attract interest from clubs outside South Africa.
In a recent chat with Far Post, Coach September didn’t name Nwabali directly but admitted the club is prepared to part ways with some of its top talents:
“We will lose some, but there’s definitely the core we will keep… It’s football. When you want to make your team better, then you sell your better players, invest in younger players, and try to be stable.”
Nwabali, who joined Chippa United in 2022 from Nigeria’s top-flight league (NPFL), rose to continental fame after his standout performances at AFCON 2023, where he helped Nigeria reach the final. Since then, he has been on the radar of clubs in Europe and the Middle East.
While no deal has been confirmed yet, all signs point toward a potential big move for the 28-year-old this summer, marking the next chapter in what has been a meteoric rise for the Nigerian shot-stopper.
