Sophie Turner is looking back on her Game of Thrones journey with humor and deep appreciation, revealing just how much the iconic series shaped her personal and professional life.
During a recent appearance on the Dish podcast, the 29-year-old actress joked that she “definitely got [her] sex education from that show. More than enough.” Having joined the HBO series at just 13, Turner grew up on set and was surrounded by some of the industry’s most celebrated actors.
The British star portrayed Sansa Stark from 2011 to 2019, starring alongside Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Peter Dinklage, and Gwendoline Christie. Reflecting on the experience, Sophie said she never received any formal acting training, but being part of such a talented ensemble felt like “winning a competition.”
“We all were a family,” she shared. “My character, I got to live with. So it felt like we kind of merged into one person by the end of it. But it was amazing.”
Turner emphasized how the show influenced nearly every aspect of her life — from the way she makes business decisions to how she conducts herself on set.
“Everything I learned from Game of Thrones — and a bit from my parents,” she added with a smile.
Though she’s previously said she loved playing Sansa, Turner has remained cautious about the idea of returning to the role. In a 2024 interview with Variety, she said she’d only consider it if the original cast and crew reunited — otherwise, “that would just be season nine.”
“I don’t think we’re going to do a season nine,” she admitted, but confessed she often thinks about where her character might be now. “I do wonder often what would she be doing now. Where would she be five years later?”
Turner, who was married to pop star Joe Jonas from 2019 to 2024, continues to reflect fondly on the series that defined her early career — even if it also doubled as an unexpected education.
