Nigerian singer Damilola Afolabi, popularly known as L.A.X, has finally opened up about why he slammed a Twitter user with a ₦500 million defamation lawsuit.
The Allegation That Started It All
The controversy began when a Twitter user, @edna_reese, made a shocking claim about the singer. Reacting to a loved-up photo L.A.X posted online, she alleged that he had herpes, writing:
“Rasaki wicked herpes giver. Omo! Love and light to you.”
The post quickly gained traction, drawing attention from fans and social media users. However, things took a drastic turn when the lady later revealed she had been arrested just days after making the statement.
Why L.A.X Took Legal Action
Speaking in a recent interview with Chude, L.A.X explained what led to the lawsuit. According to him, he initially checked the troll’s profile and discovered that she had a fake bio and profile picture, with a history of cyberbullying others.
“I started getting phone calls, and people were tagging me everywhere online. That’s when I decided to take legal action,” L.A.X said.
The singer contacted his lawyer and filed a lawsuit to ensure accountability and set an example against false accusations.
Social Media Reacts
The incident has since sparked a debate online, with some users supporting L.A.X’s decision to fight defamation, while others argue that the lawsuit and arrest might have been too extreme.
