Shakira is putting her heart—and her platform—to powerful use following the deadly floods in Texas. The 48-year-old pop superstar has pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds from her San Antonio concert on July 5 to help victims of the disaster.
Performing at the Alamodome as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, Shakira paused to address the heartbreaking crisis. In a post shared shortly after the show, she expressed solidarity with the community:
“Dear San Antonio, Our hearts and prayers are with those affected by the flood in Central Texas. We are donating a portion of tonight’s show proceeds to Catholic Charities of San Antonio, who are providing disaster relief to the families impacted.”
She also encouraged fans to join her by contributing directly, sharing a link to a fundraising campaign for Catholic Charities, who are delivering emergency supplies, including water, blankets, clothing, and hygiene kits to affected communities.
The floods, caused by the bursting banks of the Guadalupe River following torrential rain, have devastated Kerr County and surrounding areas. So far, 82 lives have been lost, and 41 people are still missing, including 10 young girls who were attending a Christian summer camp.
Among the hardest-hit was Camp Mystic, where at least 27 people died. The camp’s longtime director, Dick Eastland, was also among the victims—reportedly losing his life while trying to rescue young campers.
The tragedy has drawn national attention. President Donald Trump addressed the nation via his Truth Social platform, writing:
“Melania and I are praying for all of the families impacted by this horrible tragedy. Our Brave First Responders are on site doing what they do best. GOD BLESS THE FAMILIES, AND GOD BLESS TEXAS!”
In the midst of heartbreak, Shakira’s gesture has resonated with many as an example of compassion in action. Fans at the concert described the night as “emotional but hopeful,” with many already joining her donation drive.
As search and rescue efforts continue, her support has brought both resources and visibility to a community desperately in need.
