Sexyy Red has filed a lawsuit alleging that a security guard she hired to protect a Florida mansion left a door unlocked, allowing a masked thief to steal over $500,000 in jewelry and designer handbags during her mother’s birthday retreat.
The rapper is now seeking more than $500,000 in damages while being countersued by the same security guard over an unrelated wage dispute.
In January 2025, Sexyy Red hosted a birthday retreat for her mother at a rented mansion in Florida. According to the lawsuit, she hired Carl Thompson and his security team to protect the property during the festivities.
On January 12, a single masked individual entered the home through a door that had been left unlocked and made off with a trove of luxury items, including necklaces, charms, rings, bracelets, watches, and designer handbags. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated at no less than $500,000.
According to court documents, a police investigation confirmed that the door was left unsecured. Sexyy Red alleges that Thompson was the last person to leave the property before the burglary occurred and therefore bears responsibility for the loss.
The burglary lawsuit is actually part of an ongoing legal dispute between the rapper and Thompson. In August 2025, Thompson filed his own lawsuit against Sexyy Red, claiming she underpaid him for his security services.
Thompson alleges that he was hired in May 2023 as Sexyy Red’s personal security guard at a salary of $180,000 per year and worked for her until December 2024. He claims he was paid $204,000 but should have received $285,000 under his contract, leaving a balance of $81,000.
Sexyy Red has denied the allegations that she underpaid Thompson. In her countersuit, she blames him for the burglary, arguing that his negligence led to the theft of her luxury items.
Both lawsuits are currently ongoing, with neither party having reached a settlement or verdict. The case has drawn attention not only for the substantial amount of money involved but also for the complex legal web between the rapper and her former security guard.
The burden of proof will rest on Sexyy Red to show that Thompson’s negligence directly caused the theft, while Thompson must demonstrate that he was entitled to the wages he claims are owed.
