Selena Quintanilla’s sister Suzette and mother Marcella have issued a forceful denial following brother A.B. Quintanilla’s cryptic social media post about an alleged lawsuit. In a joint statement, they said they have never been served with any legal documents and called his insinuations “false.”
On Tuesday, A.B. Quintanilla III posted to Instagram, confirming that “there is a lawsuit related to Suzette Arriaga, as well as facts and circumstances related to my father, Abraham Quintanilla.” He claimed the legal process began months ago but the underlying issues span years. He said he had discovered things during the process that “deeply impacted” him and that remaining silent was no longer an option.
He did not specify the nature of the lawsuit or the amount of money involved. While media reports have speculated the dispute could involve up to $48 million in royalties and Suzette’s alleged intention to sell a 50 percent stake in Selena’s legacy for $30 million, A.B. has not confirmed or denied these figures.
Suzette and Marcella released a joint statement on Wednesday, September 2, through Selena’s official social media accounts, addressing what they called “serious and false insinuations.” They stated Suzette has never been served with a lawsuit and has received no summons, petition, or other legal pleading regarding A.B.’s allegations. They also searched public records but could not find any case matching his description.
They asked pointedly: “What lawsuit? Where was it filed? What is the case number?”
They specifically denied Suzette committed theft, misappropriated funds, or improperly took property belonging to A.B., Abraham, Marcella, Chris, Selena’s estate, or any family business. They also denied she intends to sell Selena’s personal belongings.
“We love A.B. He is our son and brother. But loving someone does not require us to accept false accusations,” the statement concluded.
