Veteran Nollywood actor Segun Arinze has spoken out about his past feud with fellow actor Emeka Ike, revealing that their long-standing disagreement has been completely resolved.
In an interview with QEDNG, Arinze reflected on their 2009 conflict, which stemmed from leadership issues within the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). However, he emphasized that their differences never turned into personal animosity.
“Emeka Ike is a talented actor. We’ve both moved on from the past, and we can now laugh about those times. It wasn’t about personal hate; it was a disagreement over a position,” Arinze shared.
No Room for Grudges in Nollywood
Arinze revealed that time and maturity had helped dissolve their conflict naturally. He even extended an open invitation to Emeka Ike for lunch or dinner whenever he’s in town.
“What do I need enemies for? Life is already challenging enough. Hatred is just an extra burden you don’t need to carry,” he added.
Beyond the reconciliation, the action-movie veteran also touched on his career, admitting that he had been typecast in certain roles. He expressed admiration for Nollywood legends like Olu Jacobs, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Ramsey Nouah, who have successfully explored diverse characters over time.
No Rivalry, Just Collaboration
When asked about competition in Nollywood, Arinze dismissed the idea of rivalry, stressing that the industry is big enough for everyone to thrive.
“There’s no need to compete. There’s space for everyone to shine,” he said. “When I see my colleagues succeed, I genuinely celebrate their achievements. Competition only breeds negativity. The best approach is teamwork, like footballers on a field.”
With this, Segun Arinze and Emeka Ike’s reconciliation marks another chapter in Nollywood’s growing culture of unity and professionalism.
