In an interview with InStyle, Johansson dismissed any possibility of Natasha’s return, saying:
“Natasha is dead. She is dead. She’s dead. Okay? They just don’t want to believe it. They’re like, ‘But she could come back!’ Look, I think the balance of the entire universe is held in her hand. We’re going to have to let her go. She saved the world. Let her have her hero moment.”
This statement seems to put an official end to the speculation, though it’s worth noting that Marvel has been known to bring back characters in unexpected ways—whether through multiverse variants, flashbacks, or even AI recreations.
What’s Next for Scarlett Johansson?
While her time in the MCU appears to be over, Johansson is still involved with Marvel. She is credited as an executive producer on the upcoming Thunderbolts (May 2, 2025), which many speculate could have ties to her Black Widow legacy.
