Talks are brewing for a third Sanderson sisters adventure, but no official greenlight yet

Sarah Jessica Parker has confirmed that conversations are ongoing about Hocus Pocus 3 — and fans of the cult-favorite franchise might have reason to be cautiously optimistic.

The 60-year-old actress, who plays Sarah Sanderson, the ditzy yet dangerously enchanting witch, gave a hopeful update while appearing on Watch What Happens Live!.

“No more developments other than we would like to do it,” Parker said.

“We’ve been having some conversations.”

A Magical Legacy Still Brewing

The Hocus Pocus franchise began in 1993 with a modest theatrical run, but it quickly developed a massive cult following, particularly among Halloween lovers.

The sequel, Hocus Pocus 2, premiered on Disney+ in 2022 — nearly 30 years later — and became a streaming hit, prompting speculation about a third installment almost immediately.

Parker’s co-stars Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy also reprised their roles in the second film, reuniting as the mischievous Sanderson sisters.

Bette Midler: “Get Us While We’re Still Breathing!”

Last year, Bette Midler — who plays the fierce and flamboyant Winifred Sanderson — was vocal about her eagerness to return for a third film. Speaking with Busy Philipps in 2024, she urged Disney to move quickly:

“If they’re gonna, they oughta, because time is not just marching, time is barrel-assing to the finish line. Get us while we’re still breathing, I mean, God!”

She also admitted she thought the original 1993 film was a “dud” at first, only to see it become a seasonal staple and certified cult classic.

Where Things Stand Now

Despite strong fan enthusiasm and high streaming numbers for Hocus Pocus 2Disney has yet to officially confirm Hocus Pocus 3. However, Parker’s comments suggest that early-stage discussions are taking place between the core cast and producers.

Midler, too, previously revealed that “gingerly and gently” talks were underway and said her villainous character remains one of her most theatrically fun to play.

“She really does put it on… She’s vicious, hilarious, ridiculous-looking — and she doesn’t know any of that,” Midler said.

The Sanderson Sisters’ Spell Still Holds

Though it’s been nearly three years since the sequel dropped, the Sanderson magic clearly hasn’t faded. Fans continue to celebrate the franchise every Halloween, and the cast’s willingness to return makes the possibility of a third film more likely — if Disney chooses to greenlight it.

Until then, we wait—candles unlit, brooms at the ready.
