Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ruger, known for his hit track “Toma Toma,” has revealed that he’s finally ready to trade his playboy lifestyle for marriage in 2025.
The singer took to Snapchat on Sunday, sharing his thoughts after witnessing countless weddings. Reflecting on his life choices, Ruger admitted that seeing others settle down has made him question his ways.
“Everybody is just getting married. Got me questioning myself—how long will I continue this playboy shiii? I’m settling down this year, period. I’ll soon be 30, tf.”
Ruger Calls Out the Nigerian Music Industry
Meanwhile, Ruger also voiced his frustrations about the state of the Nigerian music industry, claiming that talent often takes a backseat to promotion. In a fiery post on X (formerly Twitter), he criticized how artists without real skills still manage to gain fame, thanks to heavy marketing.
“The music scene has been hurting me coz no matter how shit an artist is, once there’s money for hype, Otilo.”
The Jonzing World star also threw shade at artists who rely on autotune even during live performances, calling it unnecessary.
“Now, let’s talk about the gaddamn autotunes on the mic when y’all perform. Next time, tell your engineer to shut it down when you’re about to speak, coz you be speaking in Tunez wahalaaaaaa. Well, Ruger don’t need that sht. Thank you.”*
What’s Next for Ruger?
With marriage on his mind and frustrations with the industry boiling over, fans are wondering what’s next for Ruger. Will he finally drop a love song inspired by his future bride? Or will he take a break from music to focus on his personal life?
One thing’s for sure—2025 is shaping up to be a big year for Ruger, both in love and in music!
