Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has finally spoken out after being accused of abandoning a movie set without completing his shoot. Taking to Instagram, the actor set the record straight, revealing what really happened behind the scenes.
“I Had No Choice But to Leave” – Rotimi Salami Explains
Salami explained that he was initially invited by his senior colleague, Lekan Olatunji, for a two-day film project. However, the shoot was rescheduled four times for reasons unknown to him. Despite the delays, he still showed up on set in Abeokuta at 2:30 PM, even after facing car issues.
He also disclosed that he had requested mobilization before making the trip and received ₦100,000. However, when he arrived, the shoot was further delayed, and he had to leave for an important appointment in Lagos.
Defamation Claims and Social Media Outrage
Salami strongly denied allegations that he abandoned the project, accusing the production managerof twisting the story to defame him. He also expressed his disappointment that his business phone number was shared publicly, leading to unwarranted backlash.
In his post, he wrote:
“I am doing this because I need to protect my image on social media, especially for those who care and have reached out to me. This will be the last time I speak on this matter. Meanwhile, defaming me and posting my business mobile number for people who know nothing about my transactions to call and bash me does have a fine.”
Despite the controversy, Salami ended his statement on a light-hearted note.
