The 2025 Oscars may have come and gone, but the drama is far from over – especially for Timothée Chalamet’s die-hard fans, who are crying foul after the actor lost the Best Actor award to Adrien Brody.
Chalamet’s performance as Bob Dylan in the biopic A Complete Unknown had been a fan favorite throughout award season. The actor dedicated five years to preparing for the role – learning to sing, play instruments, and even gaining weight to fully embody the music legend. But despite delivering what many critics hailed as the performance of his career, he left the ceremony empty-handed.
Instead, the Oscar went to Adrien Brody for his role in The Brutalist, a film that had been clouded by controversy after it was revealed that AI technology was used to tweak parts of his Hungarian dialogue. Even though the film’s director Brady Corbet clarified that only minor vowel and letter corrections were made – not the performance itself – the revelation left a bitter taste for many.
Fans wasted no time flooding social media with outrage. One furious user wrote: “Timothée Chalamet spent five years learning how to sing like Bob Dylan just to lose to someone whose performance was enhanced by AI? Make it make sense!”
Another ranted: “The Academy really let AI win an Oscar over Timmy? What a joke.”
While Brody’s performance was widely praised, the AI scandal has undoubtedly tainted his win in the eyes of many. Some even argued that he shouldn’t have been nominated at all, with one user posting: “Adrien Brody should’ve been disqualified the minute they admitted they used AI.”
Despite the heartbreak, Chalamet fans are holding out hope, with messages like “The Oscar will be yours one day, Timmy” trending on social media.
