Ray J’s lavish lifestyle appears to have caught up with him again. The singer and entrepreneur is facing a new lawsuit from American Express, which claims he owes nearly $80,000 in unpaid credit card charges. The complaint, filed in recent court documents, accuses Ray J of breaching his cardholder agreement by failing to pay the outstanding balance on his account.

American Express is seeking $78,704.56 from Ray J, plus interest and legal fees. The lawsuit also names Rajun Cajun Inc., a business entity connected to the entertainer, though the exact nature of that company’s involvement remains unclear. The credit card company alleges the debt has gone unpaid despite repeated attempts to collect.

This isn’t Ray J’s first rodeo with American Express. Just three months ago, in December, the company filed a separate lawsuit claiming he owed a significantly larger sum, $139,849.85. That case is also named one of his business ventures, Tronix Network. Between the two lawsuits, American Express is pursuing more than $218,000 from the “One Wish” singer.

Sources close to Ray J said he plans to pay off the debt, suggesting the lawsuit may ultimately be resolved without a prolonged court fight. But the timing adds to what’s becoming a growing pile of legal headaches for the 44-year-old entertainer.

Beyond the AmEx battles, Ray J remains locked in an ongoing lawsuit with Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian. That case stems from a 2022 incident involving a physical altercation at a Hollywood hotel. Security footage from the night showed Ray J being escorted out by hotel security after an argument. The Kardashian-Jenner lawsuit adds another layer of complexity to his legal calendar.

Ray J has built a career on reinvention, from R&B singer to reality TV star to tech entrepreneur with his Sext Can Wait app and Raycon global roaming service. But the financial struggles suggest the revenue hasn’t always matched the lifestyle. Court records show a pattern of collection actions in recent years, including previous tax liens and vendor disputes.

For now, Ray J isn’t commenting. His rep declined to speak on the record when reached. But the lawsuits keep coming, and the numbers keep adding up. Whether he settles quietly or fights in court, the paper trail tells a story of financial turbulence beneath the glossy surface.

American Express is asking the judge for the full $78,704.56, plus costs. A court date hasn’t been set. Meanwhile, the December lawsuit is still working its way through the system.
