Rapper Quavo is facing a massive financial headache from the federal government. The Migos star, whose legal name is Quavious Marshall, has been hit with a federal tax lien totaling nearly $3 million for unpaid taxes spanning three separate years.

The IRS filed the lien in January, claiming the 34-year-old rapper owes significant back taxes for 2021, 2022, and 2023. The breakdown shows escalating amounts year over year: $915,660 for 2021, $887,486 for 2022, and a whopping $1,109,497.79 for 2023. Altogether, Uncle Sam alleges Quavo owes $2,912,644.33 in unpaid taxes.

The tax trouble comes just months after Quavo’s Migos bandmate and nephew, Offset, resolved his own seven-figure battle with the IRS. In December 2025, the IRS released a lien against Offset after determining he had paid $1,575,266.73 owed for the 2022 tax year. The IRS had originally recorded that lien in April 2024.

Offset’s tax situation was complicated by additional state-level claims. The Georgia Department of Revenue filed a separate lien in March 2025 alleging Offset failed to pay approximately $292,000 in state income taxes for the 2021 tax year, which grew to nearly $778,426 when including interest, penalties, and collection fees. That tax dispute even surfaced publicly during Offset’s ongoing divorce proceedings from Cardi B, who alleged in a September 2025 livestream that unresolved tax liabilities contributed to delays in finalizing their split.

It’s currently unclear whether Quavo has paid the balance, is challenging the lien, or plans to negotiate a payment plan with the IRS. No public response from the rapper or his representatives has been reported. A federal tax lien is a public claim against a person’s property when they fail to pay a tax debt. It doesn’t seize assets immediately but gives the government a legal right to pursue collection if the debt remains unpaid.

Quavo has been focused on his solo music career and philanthropic efforts following the tragic 2022 shooting death of his Migos groupmate Takeoff. The rapper recently released his collaborative album with Lana Del Rey and has been working on various business ventures, including his spirits brand and charitable foundation.

With nearly $3 million on the line and his Migos counterpart having just cleared his own tax debt, all eyes are on Quavo to see how he handles this massive financial obligation. Whether he follows Offset’s path to resolution or fights the government’s claims remains to be seen.
