The former Prince Andrew has launched legal action against the police who arrested him and searched his homes in February. Andrew has lodged a judicial review asking a judge to review whether the circumstances of his arrest were lawful, PEOPLE has confirmed. The former Duke of York was arrested amid scrutiny over his links with Jeffrey Epstein.

The Prince Andrew legal action challenges the conduct of the police during the February arrest, which took place at his home. Officers also searched multiple properties connected to him as part of the investigation. Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein, who died in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Andrew settled a civil lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre in 2022 without admitting liability.

Andrew was stripped of his royal titles and military affiliations in 2022 amid the fallout from his association with Epstein. The judicial review is a legal procedure that asks a court to examine whether a public body’s decision or action was lawful. A date for the hearing has not been set. Representatives for Andrew and the police have not commented publicly on the filing.
