Perez Hilton’s mother, Teresita Lavandeira, has filed for temporary custody of his three minor children. The filing comes one week after the 48-year-old blogger was hospitalized following a disturbing mental health crisis livestream in which he appeared to harm himself. A source close to the situation said that Lavandeira filed the petition on August 7.
In her filing, Lavandeira is asking to seal the records, writing: “The children in this case should not be subjected to any further trauma related to the incidents that are the basis of the petition”. Sources tell Rob Shuter’s “Naughty But Nice” Substack that the family believes Hilton “needs to focus on getting healthy before he can safely care for the children”.
Hilton remains hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows for the involuntary hospitalization of individuals experiencing severe mental health crises. His family says his condition is “serious but stable,” and he will require surgery for injuries sustained during the incident, including significant blood loss. The family has also stated that his three children, Mario III, 13, Mia Alma, 11, and Mayte Amor, 8, were inside his Miami home just minutes before the livestream began but fled with his sister and niece when it became clear he was in crisis. “What those children experienced was deeply traumatic,” a source said.
