Olympic gymnast Frederick Richard has officially backflipped his way into the record books — and into the hearts of thousands — by setting a new Guinness World Record for the most backflips in 12 hours, all while raising over $60,000 for a charitable cause.
The Paris 2024 bronze medallist smashed the previous record of 1,001 backflips by completing 1,111 backflips in just 12 hours. The record-breaking feat took place at Premier Gym in Stockton, Massachusetts, where Frederick first began his gymnastics journey.
More than 55,000 people tuned in to watch the 20-year-old athlete in action, while over 1,200 donors supported his GoFundMe campaign during the event.
Supporting Kids in Africa Through Gymnastics
The fundraiser — still active — aims to raise $100,000 to help provide professional gymnastics equipment to underprivileged children across Africa. So far, Frederick has raised $60,917, with hopes that the inspiring record will help push donations even higher.
A Day to Remember
If breaking a world record wasn’t enough, May 2-3, the day of his historic attempt, also marked another personal milestone: Frederick became an uncle. He was determined to complete all 1,111 backflips before midnight — just in time to meet his newborn nephew, Amir.
“This was about more than just flips,” Frederick said. “It was about giving kids opportunities — and making my family proud.”
Frederick Richard continues to be a standout not only in gymnastics but also in using his platform to inspire and uplift others — one backflip at a time.
