The music world is mourning after singer Oliver Tree died at 32 in a Brazil helicopter crash. Two helicopters collided above an electric vehicle yard in Southwest Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning, killing all six people involved.

The Brazil helicopter crash unfolded over a vehicle storage yard in Southwest Rio. Tree was traveling in one helicopter with four others: Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, Lucas Brito Chaves, and pilot Alexandre Souza. A second helicopter carried only the pilot, Charles Marsillac. Investigators are now working to determine exactly why the two aircraft collided.

Tree first gained attention at just 17 years old, collaborating with Skrillex and Zeds Dead under the name “Tree.” After an independent album in 2013, he stepped back to study music technology. He returned with Ugly Is Beautiful in 2020, which went gold in the United States. His single “Life Goes On” achieved platinum status. Three more albums followed, including Love You Madly Hate You Badly, released just two months before the crash.

Tree had a busy schedule ahead. His next show was set for July 1 in Lisbon, Portugal, followed by dates across the United States, Europe, Australia, and China. All those performances will never happen.

Oliver Tree was 32 years old. In a career that spanned two decades, he built a devoted fanbase through bold visuals, genre-blending music, and an unapologetically weird persona. His final album arrived only weeks ago. Now, his voice exists only in what he left behind.
