Ogun State is taking bold strides into the future of Nigeria’s creative and tourism sectors as Governor Dapo Abiodun announces the launch of a state-of-the-art Film and Entertainment Village, in partnership with renowned arts organization Terra Kulture, led by Bolanle Austen-Peters.
In a statement released via the state government’s official X (formerly Twitter) page, the initiative is part of preparations for the upcoming National Sports Festival in May, which is expected to host over 12,000 athletes and visitors.
What’s Coming?
Governor Abiodun revealed that the first phase of the village will kick off within 60 days, aiming to be the cultural heartbeat of the state. The project will celebrate the legacies of Ogun-born icons like Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Professor Wole Soyinka, and Chief MKO Abiola, while serving as a major tourism, employment, and investment hub.
The creative village will include:

• A Hall of Fame honoring cultural legends

Cultural Revival in Full Swing
The project is not just about the future; it’s also about preserving the past. The state government has begun restoration work on major heritage sites, including:
• Olumo Rock
• Fela’s mother’s home
• MKO Abiola’s residence
• A historic building visited by Queen Elizabeth II
These landmarks will be enhanced with vibrant aesthetics and storytelling features to elevate their cultural and tourism appeal.

Bolanle Austen-Peters, founder of Terra Kulture and director of multiple critically acclaimed productions, praised the initiative as a “landmark cultural development” that aligns with national efforts to invest in the arts and creative economy.
She noted that the Film and Entertainment Village will empower a new generation of creatives, offering them top-tier resources, mentorship, and global visibility.
