An Offset arrest warrant was quietly recalled by a Los Angeles County judge on February 26, just weeks before the rapper was shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida. The warrant had been issued in late January after Offset, legal name Kiari Cephus, failed to appear at an arraignment on a misdemeanor battery charge.
The original charge stems from an alleged incident at a weed dispensary in Los Angeles back in March 2025. Offset was charged with simple battery in December of that year. When he missed his court date, a judge issued a warrant and set bond at $20,000. But the Offset arrest warrant was recalled after he showed up weeks later with an attorney and entered a not guilty plea.
On Monday of this week, the Offset Florida casino shooting unfolded in the valet area of the Hard Rock in Hollywood. According to an arrest report, rapper Lil Tjay directed his associates to fight Offset’s group. During the brawl, one of Lil Tjay’s crew members pulled out a gun and shot Offset. The bullet struck his leg. He was rushed to a hospital and has since been released.
Lil Tjay was arrested on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge and released after posting $500 bond. Upon walking out of jail, he called Offset a “rat” to waiting reporters. Offset responded in a social media comment, writing, “U ain’t buss nun”, a phrase questioning his rival’s credibility. Two individuals were detained following the shooting, and the investigation remains active.
Offset shared a handwritten note after leaving the hospital, thanking fans for checking on him. “I’m focused on my family, my recovery, and getting back to the music,” he wrote. “Life’s a gamble and I’m still playing to win” . The battery case in Los Angeles is still pending.
