Barcelona have officially completed the signing of Joan García from city rivals Espanyol for a reported fee of €25 million. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has signed a long-term deal that will keep him at Camp Nou until June 2031.
The Catalan giants announced the move on Monday, marking García as their first major signing of the summer window. A product of Espanyol’s youth system, García impressed in the 2024/25 La Liga season with standout performances that caught the attention of several top clubs — but it’s Barcelona who won the race for his signature.
With Marc-André ter Stegen nearing the latter stages of his career and Inaki Peña’s future uncertain, García is expected to compete for the No. 1 spot or serve as a long-term successor.
The club is yet to confirm his official unveiling date, but García is set to join the squad for pre-season training next month.
