Hollywood icon Nicolas Cage is officially off the hook after being dismissed from his ex-partner Christina Fulton’s lawsuit. The legal battle, which stemmed from an alleged physical attack by their son, Weston Coppola Cage, last year, initially accused the actor of neglecting Weston’s mental health issues and enabling his behavior.
However, court documents obtained by PEOPLE confirm that Fulton’s legal team filed a dismissal request regarding Cage, preventing her from refiling the claim against him in the future. Meanwhile, the case against Weston remains ongoing.
Cage’s Lawyer Slams the Claims
Reacting to the lawsuit, Cage’s lawyer called the allegations “absurd and frivolous,” emphasizing that the 61-year-old actor is not responsible for his 34-year-old son’s actions.
“Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old man. Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged assault of his mother,” his attorney stated to E! News.
Weston Still Facing Legal Battle
According to the lawsuit, Weston has a history of mental health struggles and violent behavior, which Christina alleges Cage ignored, failing to intervene before she was violently attacked in April 2023.
Fulton claims to have suffered severe injuries, including a brain concussion, disfiguring eye injury, PTSD, and dental trauma, affecting her thriving career in entertainment.
She initially sued Cage for negligent supervision and negligent undertaking, while Weston is still facing charges of assault, battery, and emotional distress.
