Nia Long will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on September 16. The Nia Long Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony marks a full-circle moment for the actress, who recalled childhood walks down Hollywood Boulevard with her mother. “We’d pass all the stars, and my mom would say, ‘One day, you’re going to have one,’” Long shared. “And I wasn’t even acting yet.”
Long’s career spans more than four decades, with defining roles in Boyz n the Hood, Love Jones, The Best Man, and Friday that shaped Black film and television culture. She recently starred as Katherine Jackson in the Michael Jackson biopic Michael and serves as Estée Lauder’s first North American brand ambassador. The honor was announced in 2025 as part of the Walk of Fame’s annual inductee class.
Between her mother’s early belief and encouragement from icons like Eddie Murphy, who told her early in her career to never feel guilty about success, Long’s journey reflects purpose and persistence. The ceremony will take place on September 16 in Los Angeles.
