Actress Nia Long has taken legal action after enduring what she describes as a two-year stalking nightmare, filing for a restraining order against a woman who allegedly believes the two are romantically involved.

The 55-year-old “Boyz n the Hood” and “Friday” star went to court Monday, March 23, seeking protection from a woman named Carrie McDonald. In court documents obtained, Long alleges McDonald “is a stalker” who has been harassing her for more than two years with unwanted cards, flowers, gifts, and by showing up at her Los Angeles home uninvited.

According to Long’s filing, the alleged stalking has followed a disturbing pattern. The actress says she does not know McDonald personally, yet the woman has repeatedly inserted herself into Long’s life under the delusion they share a romantic connection.

The harassment has included multiple unwanted deliveries to Long’s home, including cards, flowers, and gifts she never requested. But the most alarming incidents have been in-person appearances. In 2024, Long claims McDonald showed up at her home in the middle of the night, demanding that she open the door. Police responded and issued the woman a “strong warning” before she left .

The situation escalated dramatically on Saturday, March 21, when McDonald allegedly appeared at Long’s residence again and rang her doorbell. This time, law enforcement arrested the woman at the scene.

The arrest prompted Long to immediately seek legal protection. She filed for a temporary restraining order on Monday, asking the court to protect not only herself but also her two children and her mother.

Despite the documented incidents and the recent arrest, a judge denied Long’s request for an immediate temporary restraining order . The denial does not reflect a ruling on the truth of Long’s claims. Instead, the court has scheduled a formal hearing for April, where both parties will have the opportunity to present evidence before a judge determines whether to grant a longer-term protective order.

This procedural step is common in restraining order cases, particularly when criminal charges are already moving through a separate legal process.

The stalking allegations add another layer of stress to a period that has already tested the actress. Long, who has starred in films including “Love Jones,” “The Best Man,” and “The Longest Yard,” was previously in a 13-year relationship with NBA coach Ime Udoka. Their split made headlines in 2022 following Udoka’s suspension from the Boston Celtics over an improper workplace relationship .

Through it all, Long has consistently prioritized her role as a mother. Her court filing makes clear that she now considers the alleged stalking a threat not just to herself, but to her entire household .

McDonald has not publicly responded to the allegations contained in Long’s filing. The case will return to court in April, where a judge will hear arguments from both sides. For now, Long remains without the immediate legal protection she sought, leaving her family in limbo as the legal process unfolds.
