Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Ezeonu has called out young women attending auditions in revealing outfits, particularly those opting to go braless. In a now-viral TikTok video shared by @mrdoingscartel on Wednesday, the 58-year-old actress is seen addressing two women at an audition in Lagos, expressing her disapproval of their attire.

Ezeonu, famed for her roles in Nollywood classics like Glamour Girls and Living in Bondage, questioned the women’s intentions:

“Any day I’m on an audition table and anyone comes to me dressed like this, I will disqualify that person.”

She criticized the trend, emphasizing its impact on the industry’s reputation and professionalism.

“Who are you trying to impress? That’s why people see us as unserious. I’m a serious-minded actor; you can’t catch me dressed like this, even when I was your age.”

The actress also warned that inappropriate dressing could harm the credibility of aspiring actors and hinder their chances of making a strong impression.

Reactions on Social Media

Ezeonu’s stance has sparked widespread reactions online. Many praised her for promoting decency and professionalism in the entertainment industry. One supporter commented:

“Ngozi Ezeonu is absolutely right. Dressing decently doesn’t hinder creativity—it enhances respect.”

However, others debated her views, arguing that the entertainment industry has evolved and that fashion trends often reflect generational shifts. One user remarked:

“Times have changed. The older generation doesn’t understand that self-expression is key for many young creatives today.”

A Call for Standards

Ngozi Ezeonu’s comments have reignited conversations about professionalism, self-expression, and evolving standards in Nollywood. While opinions differ, her remarks highlight the ongoing tension between traditional values and modern trends in the entertainment world.
